Welcome!! You may be wondering what is ‘The Cause’?….Since 2016 as a local family business we have always had charity at the heart of what we do. We felt grateful to have a business that can be a vehicle to give back to the community and those who are disadvantaged and experiencing barriers to improve their life opportunities, not limited to but in particular children, young people & adults with Neurodiversity/SEN/Disabilities as we are a Neurodiverse family ourselves, and are parents of a beautiful teenage daughter who was diagnosed with Autism (Autism Spectrum Disorder) aged 3 & our founder Coach Gary suffered a stroke in 2018 which despite recovering well physically, now experiences neurological challenges post stroke and is now a neurodiverse adult. We have varied lived experience and are passionate about supporting other families and individuals in ways that we wish there had been available to us.

We have supported countless causes over the years and so titled our charitable efforts ‘The Cause’. We have successfully raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity/fundraising campaigns to date which is the greatest feeling and are proud to support several local charities annually; Whiston Hospital (Merseyside & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust), Friends Play for Disabled Children, The Hope Centre.

We also are very proud to have our own personal annual fundraising event, The Jennifer Roscoe Memorial ‘Warrior Games’ in memory of our beautiful best friend who passed away in July 2023 after a brave 5 year battle with Brain Cancer, from which all proceeds are donated to Brain Tumour Research. This keeps Jen’s wish to continue raising awareness for the cancer that takes more lives annually of children and young adults under 40, than any other cancer type yet hasn’t received the entire allocated funding from central Government. To date it has only received 11% of the total pledged which is unacceptable. We pledge to keep pushing awareness and supporting The Brain Tumour Research Charity in hope that one day a cure will be found.

2024 has brought a new chapter and change on the horizon as we officially became a CIC (Community Interest Company - Not For Profit) which is exciting because it allows us to apply for funding to expand our current community outreach projects and develop new endeavours and collaborations for the future! Forge Fest 2023

Members of our gym and community taking part in Forge Fest 2023

FORGE FEST 2023 was an event we created to support Whiston & St Helens Hospitals’ Charity in their appeal to raise 20k for a new outdoor play area at Whiston Hospitals Paediatric unit. We were delighted to get involved and team up with Hospital fundraising team, in particular Denise Littler, and join the community in raising the money needed! This is our local hospital and at times, ourselves and our children have used the hospitals wonderful A&E, Paediatric’s and various other departments, and we are blessed to have such a great hospital on our doorstep, so it was great to be able to contribute to something that all the children who use the hospital will benefit from for many years to come!

Warrior Games 2023

In 2023 we held our first Warrior Games in memory of our beautiful best friend Jen who along with her husband David are godparents to our 4 children. Understandably it was a difficult time for us as a family & this extended into our community because there wasn’t a person who knew Jen that didn’t remember her with a smile, fondness or a burst of laughter for the impact she had left upon them. In 2019 Jen was diagnosed with a brain tumour which she fought bravely and fiercely for 5 years. (To read Jens story please click below)

We promised Jen that we would continue the legacy she started - because she fundraised and raised so much awareness with the belief that together we can make a change to prevent other families experiencing the same fate as her own.

All proceeds from the Warrior Games are donated to Brain Tumour Research. Please use the button below to donate if you can!

  • Christmas Toy Appeal

We are on our 11th year of fundraising to buy Christmas gifts for Whiston Hospital’s Paediatric department which has inpatients aged 0-16 yr old - we decided to donate to this cause annually as we believe no child in hospital on Christmas Day should be without gifts o open due to circumstance or illness.

We have a special relationship with the department as it was retired Dr Amagavie who was Head Consultant of Paediatrics for many years who diagnosed Gary aged just 8 with his Type 1 diabetes and cared for him for many years. The department also cared for our newborn son Aaron when he was poorly and had to spend Christmas day 2014 in hospital.

A massive shout out to our local Smyths Superstore St Helens manager Phil, who always makes our money go further!

it really is a joy to see the happiness on the faces of the children who are so grateful, so please know that your donations make a huge difference, now that’s what Christmas is all about!

  • EASTER EGG APPEAL

Every Easter w collect and donate as many Easter eggs as possible and donate to the Hope Centre St Helens to distribute to families in need, who are at risk of not being able to provde an Easter egg for their child/ren. We have been doing this for 5 years and every year it get bigger which is a testament to the kindness of our members and community!

We have supported Friends Play for Disabled Children for many years and we always have collection pots out within our gym, and we regularly donate to them so that they can continue their great work within our local community. Being a Neurodiverse family ourselves, its great to collaborate and Friends also provide service users for our Phoenix Project which we offer free adaptive fitness sessions to children and young people & other enriching activities.
